08 september 2015
Béres Vineyard and Winery has been awarded Hungary’s Most Beautiful Vineyard of 2015. This stunning estate in Erdőbénye won the prestigious award in the competition announced by Hungarian trade magazine Bor és Piac (“Wine and Market”) and entered by over 100 vineyards.
The aspects judged were preservation of natural assets, the aesthetic appearance of the vineyards and the winery, harmony of the estate with the surrounding landscape, high-quality information provided to trade and consumers, and publicity of cultivated consumption of wine. The expert jury found Béres Vineyard and Winery to be outstanding in achieving these values.
The Béres Estate is a youthful, dynamic winery which adds great colour to the Tokaj wine region and Erdőbénye, the picturesque little village in its geographical centre. The winery was founded in 2002 by the Béres family, who are well-known for their work in the pharmaceutical industry in Hungary. Since the very beginning the family intention has been to create great wines that match the high prestige of the Tokaj wine region in the historical plots of the estate through the fusion of a modern approach and state-of-the-art technology with Tokaji traditions, so these wines can build the reputation of Hungaricum* Tokaji wine both in Hungary and abroad.
Béres wines are in the frontline of the world’s most prestigious wine competitions. Last year at the Decanter World Wine Awards a Regional Trophy was awarded to Béres Winery for their 2008 Tokaji Aszú 6 puttonyos. Béres Vineyard also assists the development of the region with their extensive work supporting its values.
